Working with contractors shouldn’t be a hassle.
Everyone knows someone who’s had a bad experience with a contractor. From consistently showing up late (or not at all) to having projects take months longer than expected, these kinds of behaviors put a strain on you, your peace of mind, and your wallet.
At Courteous Contractors, we do things differently.
We don’t just pride ourselves on building great projects, but on building great relationships with our clients—ones created on a strong foundation of:
Communication: No ghosting here. We stay in touch and strive to answer all phone calls, texts, and emails within 24 hours.
Timeliness: If we say we’ll be there at 8 a.m., we’ll be there at 8 a.m. We create reliable timelines based on past project experience. If a schedule change does need to happen, you’ll know about it in advance.
Transparency: We make sure you clearly know what you’re paying for (and why). We keep you apprised of project progress and have open discussions if changes need to be made to the original scope of work.
Courtesy: This is the cornerstone of our company philosophy. We respect our clients’ time and investments as if they were our own. And treat everyone with the same kindness that we’d want to receive.
Our co-founders John and Tom have completed countless projects together over the years, building a true partnership grounded in trust, craftsmanship, and these shared values.
MEET THE TEAM
John Ross
John is the handiest of handymen who loves using his talents to make clients feel truly happy in their homes. From quick ceiling fan installs to full kitchen remodels, he brings creativity and care to projects of all types and sizes for clients across Western New York.
Before launching Courteous Contractors, John worked as a management and program analyst for the Veterans Benefits Administration in Buffalo. He lives in Holland with his wife Megan, their beautiful daughter, and two goofy rescue pit bulls.
Tom Snider
Tom has been building things longer than most contractors have been on the job. He began in roofing and general construction in 2001, then spent a decade honing his craft in siding, roofing, and custom metal bending. He later moved into building out full retail storefronts—work that requires both precision and big-picture thinking.
When he’s not on a job site, you’ll usually find Tom cheering on the Buffalo Bills with his wife Michelle and son Vincent. A true hands-on guy even in his downtime, he’s currently converting a school bus into a custom travel rig for family road trips with Michelle and their two dogs.
